Dec 2008- By this point the layout was only 7 months old, with the bulk of work done it was onto detailing and running the train.
This is how I controlled my switches until 2011, I buried aluminum tubes with an actuating wire under the cork from each switch to the front of the layout then lathed the handles and glue them on. It worked quite, unfortunately I never powered the frogs when I started build the layout which would later be a problem that I would have to solve in 2011.
Around the end of 2008 I had mounted the layout to the wall and installed some cheap Ikea lighting.
